Surrogacy is a method where a woman agrees to carry and deliver a child for another person or couple. Typically, there are two types of surrogacy arrangements- gestational surrogacy and traditional surrogacy. In a gestational arrangement, the gestational carrier has no genetic connection to the child. On the other hand, in a traditional surrogacy, a surrogate gets pregnant with the use of her own eggs. If the surrogate receives compensation for carrying and delivering a child, the arrangement is called a commercial surrogacy.
At BLK Super Specialty Hospital, we offer a surrogacy program for intended parents. There could be various reasons for a couple to opt for a surrogate pregnancy. These include:
- Female infertility
- Medical factors making pregnancy risky or impossible
- Intended parent is a single man or woman
- Same-sex couple who wish to become parents
